UPDATE
I will be out of town, and out of communication, from the 11th through the 21st of this month. As such, I will have to further delay the start of the Census until the first of October. Hopefully the timing will be convenient for all.

I will be out of communication from the 16th of this month until the 13th of next month. Will the census run for more than two weeks?

If the form is ready perhaps it could be released now with a 'due date' of mid October ? ? ?

If the form is ready perhaps it could be released now with a 'due date' of mid October ? ? ? My intention is to do everything I can to assure the highest level of participation in the Census, which includes trying to mitigate technical glitches as they arise. I want to be 100% present for the entire thing. I'll wait. Trust me, it'll make for better results.

UPDATE 17 SEPT 09
I lost access to the original database for the census, so I'm rebuilding it anew. Should be done before weekend, and will shoot for public roll-out sometime this Saturday or Sunday.

PRE-RELEASE TESTINGI need 5 people to try out the Census form, submit it for real, and tell me of any glitches they might find. The info submitted during this test does NOT need to be factual. After this testing, I will delete all the info thus far submitted before releasing the "real deal." As such, testers will need to submit their actual form AGAIN when the Census officially begins. If you are willing to test this out for me, click the link below. It should take you about 15 minutes at most to complete. Please try to answer EVERY question, even the optional ones, to help the testing process. Once again, you can make up info. STOP!This link will be valid for only 5 clicks, so if you're not serious about testing this out, please DO NOT CLICK BELOW. IF YOU'RE REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT HELPING:There. Now wasn't that fun! UPDATE: The five testers have arisen, and the testing period is over. I am still awaiting comments from ONE of the 5, and then I'll start revising.

I just did the for real test and I want to suggest some stuff: 1. An "other" choice for the Race/Ethnic Identity part. Also, "Caucasian" is spelled incorrectly. 2. Offer a "High school student," "Undergraduate Student," and "Graduate student" option on the Formal Education bit otherwise we might be misdirected to think that a large chunk of our population did not graduate their secondary school when actually they are just still in it. 3. Offer a "student" option for income--I'm making less than 10,000 USD but this is because I'm a full time student. Or just tell students to mark decline to answer. Again this is so we don't get misdirected in our results. 4. An other option for occupation.
Though no technical problems that I can see.

A louis is still $1.25, I believe. Not $1.50 Hope this helps, based on todays exchange rates; 1 Louis = 1.50 US Dollars (USD) | 1 Louis = 1.05 UK Pounds (GBP) | 1 Louis = 1.18 Euro (EUR) | 1 Louis = 1.92 Canadian Dollars (CAD)
| 1 Louis = 2.34 Australian Dollars (AUD)
| 1 Louis = 53.60 Russian Rubles (RUR)
| 1 Louis = 6.34 Israeli New Shekels (ILS) | 1 Louis = 1737.90 Iraqi Dinars (IQD)
| 1 Louis = 14853.00 Iranian Rials (IRR)
| 1 Louis = 1.73 Swiss Francs (CHF)
| 1 Louis = 13.76 Swedish Kronor (SEK)

*SIGH* I repeat: THERE NEEDS TO BE A CLEAR DESIGNATION OF THIS ON THE MAIN WEBSITE. So, what is it REALLY for sure and certain? Can someone PLEASE update the Royal Bank and Post website? There is, as near as I can tell, no clear and visible information on KoT.net pertaining to conversion factors for Talossan Louise. On the other hand, conversion rates for US dollars into every conceivable currency are readily available online. Wouldn't it be reasonable to expect to find it listed on the Talossan Culture page? It's not there. How about in the Talossan Glossary? It's not there. Perhaps on the Ministry of Finance page, which lists the completion of the project to determine the value and basis of Talossan currency, but provides no resources documenting that information? Even a specific Google for "currency" on the site reveals mainly a list of statutes, none of which clearly explain the conversion factors involved. If we expect citizens to answer in Louise, we must provide them an easy way to convert from their national currency to Louise. My goal is to have people complete the survey, not give up in frustration. ADDITION: And see how helpful the Royal Bank and Post is?

First of all, THANK YOU DREU for taking the time to help me with this project. Some questions: 1. An "other" choice for the Race/Ethnic Identity part. Also, "Caucasian" is spelled incorrectly. Good catch. 2. Offer a "High school student," "Undergraduate Student," and "Graduate student" option on the Formal Education bit otherwise we might be misdirected to think that a large chunk of our population did not graduate their secondary school when actually they are just still in it. Good point, I will revise. 3. Offer a "student" option for income--I'm making less than 10,000 USD but this is because I'm a full time student. Or just tell students to mark decline to answer. Again this is so we don't get misdirected in our results. Why does it matter? This question is about income only, not about the "cause" or reasons for the income. How will an answer of "less than 10,000" lead to "misdirected" results? 4. An other option for occupation. Specifically what?

Looks good!
I'll admit, I was not a fan of the whole census thing from the start. I thought it was going to be a total PITA, especially considering the whiny, cry-baby, over-sensitive malarkey that came up as the questions were being discussed.
But after taking the practice and seeing the format, I give an enthusiastic one thumb and two toes up! Well done!

Well, if we get say 40% of our results for this question as "less than 10,000" we could conclude that many low income people are attracted to Talossa. However, if the number of student-citizens does not increase in the next few years, our census 4-8 years from now will look very very different because those students (Who will make up perhaps 95% of the 40%) will all have full-time jobs. For instance, I made $202 this year so far. However, in about 6 years I plan to be making quite a bit more than that. For this reason I think we should put in a "student" and "full-time volunteer" (i.e. peace corp, etc.) option. These are not people who will probably continue to make under 10,000 Louise, but must because they are working at other non-career related things full-time.
I mean an "other" option. For instance, I was a camp counselor this summer but there is no "camp counselor" option, neither do I expect one. So let's have an "other" option.

Fritz would be the person to ask about the Louise exchange rate, since it's based on the price of a beer at his bar.
