Whereas I have previously informed the government on my lack of progress, I will be stepping down as Regent effective today. I hope to assist any other organizers of the University with their efforts, but the only thing I have accomplished thus far is to come up with a logo. There are many exciting things afoot, including historical documents coming online, the language revisions, Talossan art and literature blossoming, etc. and with the proper leader the University can be a focal point for many of these activities. Should there be a wish for any independence from the government on these affairs, I maintain the space at www.cezembre.org which can be used for storage and publication of documents. XPB

S:reu Briga, I have come to think of you as the lead educator of all Talossans. It is unfortunate that you have decided to step down. What future endeavors are you currently planning?

I have applied to be a deputy to assist the Minister of Stuff, and I will remain available as an advocate and assistant to the University.
Go Squirrels - I think we really need to start practicing for the Talossan Football Season. I think Blech has offered to be the Athletic director...

I'm sorry to see you step down! Progress has been slow, but hey, that's Talossa, and there has been progress. And how can we replace you?

As sad as it makes me to see S:reu Briga step down, I would be interested in such a position.

I would be interested in applying to be Regent. I see that Flip is also interested in the position. Perhaps we could both discuss our visions for the university, to help the selection process better understand where we are coming from.
Here is my vision for the university: Language: Become better equipped to teach our language to every citizen. Develop curriculum of online lessons, quizzes, and grades given to those who complete the classes, certificates to those who graduate four levels.
Literature: An online course discussing Talossa's literature, including historical documents. This course would be offered in English and El Glhetg, and it will generate important essays in critique of or in praise of our existing texts.
History and Government: Classes to teach about our Talossan heritage. This course would also be available in both languages. The tests would include not only multiple choise, true/false, but also essays to truly test the students' understanding.
Each course would be available to every citizen for no charge, but there must be some recruiting of instructors (seasoned, knowledgeable citizens) to get this going. Once enrolled, students will have a timeline to complete work. This will help us to keep citizens engaged in Talossa, and create a more educated citizenry.
If I were chosen to fill the position, I would like to have deans in each subject we offer, especially a dean such as Flip Molinar. Then again, if Flip is chosen, I would be happy to assist him.
I have experience developing curiculum, writing online quizzes, and teaching language. What I lack is a working knowledge of El Glhetg, which I see as a very large handicap. But, I feel that developing a curiculum to teach our language is the best way for me to grasp some knowledge of it, and my ultimate goal is to be fluent in the language.
The process would have to start with one dean, one subject, and we will grow from there.
Respectfully,
Aspra Laira

My ideas for courses are essentially the same. I want to see encouragement of all Talossans to study in some field, be it literature, history, language, or otherwise. I too would be able to write quizzes and help with curriculum planning. As S:da Laira probably would be more suited to develop the curriculum itself, I will work as an assistant to her, if she so desires.

It sounds like the two persons who have expressed interest in this position have decided among themselves that S:da Laira's should be the name I recommend to His Majesty the King. I believe that her qualifications, having obtained a post-graduate degree and devoted her career to adult education in a collegiate setting (she teaches English as a second language to foreign college students), make her an excellent candidate. In my recommendation for the King, I will expound on some of her other qualifications.

I humbly accept, and I look forward to serving as Regina.
I do hope that Flip can assist me. His enthusiasm and knowledge will be vital to the success of the university. Is there a title in place for such an assistant? Can he serve as a dean? Thanks so much for volunteering your services, Flip!

Well then, at the Seneschal's recommendation, it is with great pleasure that I (err, We) hereby appoint D:na Aspra Laira to succeed X. Pol Briga in the office of Regent of the University of Talossa. Thank you, Pol, for your long service; and thank you, Aspra, for agreeing to oversee the University's further progress.
Done by our hand royal at the city of Lone Tree in Colorado, this 4th day of February in the year of salvation 2008, of the independence of Talossa the 29th, and of our reign the 1st.

Congratulations, Aspra! As for Flip, I imagine you can give him whatever title you want unless and until the organisation of the University is further specified by law.
