Rising yet again, just because it is so much fun, the senator from Mussolini realizes something of importance.
I was in such haste before that I neglected to cast my vote, as I had intended. Thus I do so now, casting my vote quite naturally for Senator Davis.

Rises.
We have had four of the seven Senators vote. If those who have not done so, would please cast their vote for Mencei, I think it would be swell.
Sir Trotxa, you have been asked to administer this vote, and I believe such a request is unopposed by any in this body. If you would oblige us with this final duty as head of the Senats, we would be most grateful.
Sits.

Actually I do not believe he will be able to, as he is busy with matters of greater necessity, so we must proceed without him.

Rises.
I am afraid we must have at least his vote, as well as the remaining votes. In truth, what we actually need are more active Senators, but I must ask for what I can get, not what I want.
Sits.

The current vote began on February 18th, and has thus run a full month and a half. As a point of order, I will call for cloture of voting on April 18th, simply so that we may resume function. Two months is more than enough time for everyone to vote, so I think a little under two weeks is plenty of time for the extraordinarily tardy remaining Senators to choose a candidate for Mencei. Shovel in hand, the Senator Olaf enters the chambers, waves his Maricopan flag, and brushes all the dirt off of himself. Then, gravely--pun intended--he prepares to speak.
Hello folks.
First, I apologize fer putting this off so long. I didn't know what day it was.
Second, I vote for the right hon. Cap Nic. I don't think Captain Senator is long enough a title, frankly.
Danke.
The senator sits and eats pie.

My delay in voting has only to do with the level of care with which I approach such duties. We have a very capable and intelligent bunch of Senators here, it is important that we pick the very best one to represent us to ourselves. After much thought and deliberation, after painstaking evaluations and legal pad after legal pad of notes and tables, I have arrived at my decision. Through my meticulous examination, I am sure I have discovered which of the fine Senators is truly the most patriotic, the wisest and most knowledgeable, the smartest and most personable of all Talossans. After a great deal of internal debate and long hours spent considering the great weight of my decision, I am positive that I have selected the most qualified, most devout (and most attractive) person for the job. Therefore, for our next Mençéi, I, Prince Patrick, vote for myself.

It seems to me that everyone who is going to vote has been given ample opportunity to do so, and it is only timely to close the matter. Because asking for a vote of cloture would take another few months, I am just going to be abrupt and declare that the voting is over, and that Senator Casalmac'h is the winner and Mencei. I ask that she retroactively affirm my declaration of an end to the voting, and thus in a tangled and absurdly improper way, justify my actions. Congratulations to Senator Casálmac'h, whose new position as Mençéi is now reflected on the Senate's Webpage. Hooligan Seneschal

First of all I would like to thank Senator Davis for stepping in to oversee the vote; without his efforts we might have been continuing this matter for several months more, and it would behoove us to remember that sometimes a deadline is all that is necessary. Furthermore, it is fitting that one who is so ably filling the office of Distain should have taken this upon himself. Secondly, I will assent to do as Senator Davis asks and do affirm the end of voting, though by that very action I am confirming my own election. Thirdly, I would like to thank all of you. I cannot help reflecting upon the oddity that I declined the nomination, agreeing only to remain in the running at Senator Davis' request, and yet have been elected. (I cannot help but feel it has an element of "better the fool we know than the one we don't know.") I am honoured by your confidence in me and I shall do my best to repay that trust. I hope you are all ready for what that means.
