One very minor (but important) nit to pick with this proposal is that it really should be retitled The Military Honours Act (using the Talossan-English spelling for "honours" instead of the American-English word "honors"). Just as we should proudly use our national language, el glhetg Talossán, we should -- when using English -- proudly use our own dialect of that fine foreign language. Talossan-English (I'm sure our Ladintsch Naziunal would be happy to provide more details) is distinguished from American-English by its Britishisms such as the use of "ou" in words like "honour" and "colour" and its use of the ending "-ise" in place of the American ending "-ize" (for example, "realise" and "summarise" instead of "realize" and "summarize", etc.). Is Talossan-English the same as British-English, though? No, not according to the Ladintsch Naziunal, and I'll defer to him to answer that question. Personally, I think we might need a bit more differencing to set us apart from the Brits when it comes to our use of the language they developed over there a while back, but the Ladintsch Naziunal seems pretty satisfied with our individuality on that count, I suppose.

Here's another consideration. I've never used them, but I've seen them and they seem to do all right. Color sheet from Bandribbons.com.

Talossan English has moved closer to American English over the past couple years, but hopefully we can preserve our traditional distinctiveness. Traditional elements of Talossan English include the following: - British-style spelling (honour instead of honor, organisation instead of organization, defence instead of defense)
- Generally American vocabulary (trunk, elevator, and truck rather than boot, lift, and lorry)
- Several words borrowed from Talossan (azul, S:reu)
- Several distinctly Talossan expressions (zooks!)

So, Capt. Asmourescu, what do you think? Ready for Clarking?

Gentlemen, please accept my sincere apologies for my disappearing act of the last few weeks. My cell phone is now officially broken. It doesn't ring when someone calls it and doesn't notify me of voicemail for days after the voicemail was left. Very uncool.
However, I am content with the proposed act in this form. I'd say we're ready for clarking.
