I just wondered, what shall Talossa call Burma?
Shall it be Burma, or Myanmar?
Both are acceptable internationally, but then there is the issue of for example the British Government, that it will not use the name Myanmar.
To quote from the Foreign Commonwealths website on the country profile on Burma they state "Britain's policy is to refer to Burma rather than 'Myanmar'. The current regime changed the name to Myanmar in 1989. Burma's democracy movement prefers the form ‘Burma’ because they do not accept the legitimacy of the unelected military regime to change the official name of the country."
What is then our position to be?
Kind regards,
Tony Weckström Royal Ambassador to Finland

I suppose I would look to the Foreign Minister or Seneschal for that.

Not that I have any authority in Talossan politics, but as far as internationally, basically forcing the name of Burma upon Myanmar means that the government in question strongly disapproves of and does not recognize the current military junta as legitimate, as with the recent persecution of Buddhist monks demanding democracy, more and more nations are taking that option into consideration.
If Talossa does not support the existence of the Junta, christen it as Burma. If we recognize the Junta as the legitimate government, keep it as Myanmar. If we don't care, be concerned with Musharraf and Pakistan instead. At least, that's what everyone else is doing...

Speaking for His Majesty's government, the current policy of the Kingdom of Talossa is and shall be to recognise the nation in question under whatever name it first uses on its own official instrument of recognition of our beloved Kingdom. Until then, I have instructed the Foreign Ministry to leave the question open as moot.

I hope the Seneshal is not like out United States neighbors, and is planning to send the Secretary of State over to have tea-time with the despots current leaders of that country to work out niceities and all that.
'Cause you know I'll go all 'Shao-Lin' on them...
