It is with great sadness we report the passing of Sir Fritz von Buchholtz, who died yesterday. More details are, and will be, available on the new Talossa site. May he rest in peace, and may his family and loved ones be supported in their grief.

Rest in peace, Baron von Buchholtz. I do hope the government will issue a PD of mourning.

I'm not a huge fan of symbolic PDs and such, but I would be open to a PD naming some important Talossan institution or landmark (or canton?) after Sir Fritz.

There's actually a Parish in Vuode named after Fritz, 'Von Buchholtz Parish' (and in that Parish there is a Township named 'Napoleon', which I believe is where his Wargaming store was located).

Maybe some kind of charity fund in his memory or something? Maybe a trophy for the national wargaming champions?

Yes, the first Napoleon's was at the intersection of Downer and Webster, in Vuode, though this store only lasted until 1982. The second Napoleon's (1982-2005) was in Shorewood, outside Talossan territory.

If we can't get you to do a PD of mourning, like was done for people like James Doohan and Gene Siskel, maybe a proclamation of mourning would be in order, like for Xhorxh Asmour? Please?

As I said, empty proclamations and PDs are not my style. If the King proposes a PD of mourning, I'll sign it but, if it's left up to me, the Cabinet will think about it and commemorate Sir Fritz in a less empty way. (What does a proclamation of mourning even "do", anyway? It's not as if we close down government activity or hang a black drape over our websites, it's just an empty statement. If we want a protocol of Official Mourning that means something, then let's work on it. Any ideas?)

If we want a protocol of Official Mourning that means something, then let's work on it. Any ideas?) My last act as Capitán of Fiôvâ was to declare 20 May 2018 as a Day of Mourning in the province for the victims (I know the mother of one of them) of the Santa Fe HS schooting two days prior. I gave no protocol at that time, and when I asked the then-PM for same for the country, I specified nothing. My many Prime Dictates of mourning (and I put out a fair few) and those put out by others have never specified any protocols, but I also recognize, Prime Minister, you are correct and so is everyone else. Our mourning protocols are, in fact, empty, save for half-mast for Talossan flags and the like. My suggestion is for a specific date on which one may do a charitable deed, as in give $$$ or time to a worthy cause in Fritz's honor and memory. I think he would like that very much, and I think this would set a nice precedent for the future. As for Talossan activities, the King can wear the presidential sash backwards, flags can go to half-mast, etc., etc.,... There is no reason for anyone to get their bees in a bonnet over this. Life is too short, and Super Bowl is an hour away, anyway.

There aren't any bees in anyone's bonnet. I was hoping we would continue the same tradition, extended to people like Scotty from Star Trek, to honor Sir Fritz. But whatever. I hope something nice will happen to honor him. Some of those suggestions sound nice.
