esteemed fellow Zuavs,
esteemed Ladintsch community, and Talossans in general,
I have recently been promoted to the rank of Private Second Class within the Zouaves of the Royal Guard. Do not let the name fool you, we do not guard the Royals per se, but instead, we guard and we most especially enrich what the King should ideally represent within and without the Kingdom: our rich culture, our traditions, and our quirks. Now, this idea appealed to me. Even though I am enthusiastic about doing stuff for Talossa, and have been doing it, such as recently adding to and updating our Wiki (with stuff like translations of poems, short stories and songs done by other Ladintschen, but also creating pages for Chat Abbreviations in Talossan, adding a Sardinian dictionary that can be found in the Library, a page about the linguistic merits of the Berber Hypothesis, a list of Talossan idioms, or preserving research about Talossa and our national language for posterity), I found it nice to have some official recognition and incentive for doing so. So I joined the Zouaves. And that, I wanted to add to my signature which is mainly in Talossan. Whereupon I realised that there are no official translations for the ranks that our Captain, Sir Davinescu, lined out.
So without further ado and after I have blown my own trumpet for quite a while, I am attaching Suggestions of Talossan Ranks.pdf (170.64 KB) for the consideration of all Talossans, and hopefully for a friendly discussion of the merits of each proposal.
Thank you!

I am happy to take suggestion from languagey people on this matter! I'd like to stick close to the English meaning and not get too far off into the Berber weeds with cleverness, if possible. Like I think Captain should remain Capitan, and the other longstanding direct translations should also remain the same (Sergeant, etc). But some of the ranks don't have an immediately obvious translation, and those I leave to you!
