It is clear from the nature of my ancient scanning equipment and trying to get software to run it I will not be able to do any more Talossan scanning projects before 2020. Attempting multiple large scanning projects outside of Talossa this past summer has proven that. Can someone with a working scanner stand up to help the Scribery?

What is it that needs scanning? 👀 Or, rather, how is a scanner that is not in GV’s possession going to help him?

Tbh, now that our budget is in good shape, maybe GV can have a proper store scan some of the documents and be refunded with Treasury money.

We're just talking about two boxes of documents and one book, right? It can't be more than like a hundred bucks.

We're just talking about two boxes of documents and one book, right? It can't be more than like a hundred bucks. Sometime ago, I checked into scanning services lawyers would use. I received a quote from one that scared me to death, but yes, I will do better diligence on this. I will be getting a new scanner 'soon', and it will be one which will, hopefully, allow for high-res/OCR as well as be one that will last at least ten years before software, etc. makes it obsolete. Dad's old legal-size scanner works fine, but scanning anything on that flatbed is a bit of a pain. Thank you, AD and Miestrâ for getting me to look into things more diligently than I had before. I'll get my new findings to the Royal Archives Think-Tank soon.

I can run OCR pretty easily myself, once you get things scanned. Am I right about the amount of stuff? I'd be happy to help find a service and I'd chip in for it.
