There's one other thing that could help here. Apparently, every individual user can download an archive of their own posts/threads and PMs. It just can't be done collectively for the whole forum. I'm wondering how difficult it would be if we all did this, forwarded the files to a team of compilers who then tried to piece them back together? Not every registered user will do it, but how much work would it save if the vast majority of current day active posters did it? I haven't tried this, so I don't know what form in which they'd be delivered. The mirror I am building essentially looks exactly like Witt does right now, and it can be navigated in the same way. It just does not include the private forums. Manually integrating a dozen or more private compositions of posts into the existing form structure would take a very long time. We're talking about 165,000 posts. We've been at this a long time here and yammer at each other a lot! Maybe we should do it anyway, just in case? If something were to go wrong, better to have that than nothing. It would only be a fraction of the whole (I'm one of the most prolific posters and I only have about 5% of the total posts) but any fraction would be better than zero! A daunting task indeed.

Very good idead, AD, re every person archiving their own posts - This would add yet another layer of needed redundancy along with your, Dien's, and my work. I say let's go for it.
I am still brute-forcing archiving every thread manually, however.

Honestly, I'm not going to be that worried because - according to what I've read - ProBoards are very good at keeping inactive boards intact. Although private enterprise is certainly welcome to do its own archiving projects. So let's move to NewWitt ASAP.
