This will be a massive undertaking, and I would put it off until 2019. I would strongly suggest starting out with only a few sports. From your list, I suggest the following:

Chess
Checkers
Talossan Fantasy Football
RISK
Go (Baduk, Weiqi)
Battleship

I would possibly limit this list even further.

I have many thoughts on this, but will save them for another time.

I would definitely be willing to compete in the Risk and Battleship events. Go would be interesting as well, although I'd have to learn how to play it.

I would like to represent Cezembre in these games. Just glancing at this thread I was not sure if there were official sites or apps for competition. I may suggest that should the organizational committee be interested, there are a number of long time players of Diplomacy in realm. I also would suggest for future consideration aerial combat in Blue Max and an additional on the sea challenge with Wooden Ships and Iron Men both available at www.youplay.it

Talossan Olympic Committee Communiqué

1) I think Gödafrïeu has a point. It would be wise to limit the number of games for the first time. Based on current levels of activity I suggest the following list:

- Rock-Paper-Scissors
- Checkers
- Chess
- RISK

Just four would be enough for a starter, those also seem to be the popular ones. RPS for some sheer fun and randomness, Checkers and Chess for some classic intellectualism, RISK because it would be great and I didn't like how our previous attempt was failed.

So

2) I call for the formation of a Talossan RISK Group for the sole purpose of designing well-built and balance rules for the game, and maps. Especially welcomed are those who participated in our first attempt at the game.

3) If someone wants to be a deputy leader of the Talossan Olympic Committee, please drop me a line.

In the case of risk why not use the rules of the boardgame?

I've never played the boardgame. It's not such a big thing in Russia. *blush*
In fact the only RISK I've ever played is some Win95 game and some online variety.

RISK is a lot of fun. warlight.net is a very good place to play it near to or with the exact rules and map as the board game.

Hey folks!

Two things:

1) The first Talossalympic Games will feauture Rock-Paper-Scissors, Chess, RISK and Battleship. I chose Battleship over Checkers for more diversity: Checkers and Chess are more similar.

So, I'll renew the wiki article with lists of athletes who subscribed to those... sports.

2) I propose that we use Discord to communicate regarding Olympics. I think more direct communication while conducting the games would be good for all (draw analogy to the general election chat they set up every time, it's always fun, and it's the very purpose of Talossalympics too - to have fun!)

So, I'll be working on brackets this weekend. The idea is to start competitions right after the general elections, when the activity will be still hot. Thoughts?
