I'm all for meeting other Talossans, but honestly, I have no wish to read that wall of text. Sorry. If you're arranging a meetup, tell me and I'll try to be there. That's about it as far as I'm concerned.

Well, I am not about to do all the work. If you are interested in working towards a Talossan meetup in Europe, you have to pull your weight. And that means organising, participating, discussing where and when a meeting would be beneficial to all of the Talossans in Europe, etc. That leads to forming an organisation, and an organisation needs a set of rules under which to operate.

I'm definitely prepared to do the talking and planning, but that never required an organisation back in the day when we had Euro meetups. We just talked a little, set a date, and that was it.

In other words, count me in for the meetups but not for the organisation.

I am sorry to hear that.
By the way: when was the last large-scale Euro-meet-up, and why does it not take place anymore?

I am sorry to hear that. By the way: when was the last large-scale Euro-meet-up, and why does it not take place anymore? In 2001, I think. Then half of us Cézembrians left Talossa, including several who were the activists in making the meetups take place.

That's the glory of geography-based provincial assignment: You can actually meet and talk and do stuff!

So, you needed something to hold you together. Something, where you all got to know each other, and could find out who was who, and why, and what.
I wonder what could replace the function Cézembre served for this before? I wonder, I wonder...

I wonder what could replace the function Cézembre served for this before? I wonder, I wonder... No, that's turning it upside down. We would have met anyway, we didn't need anything other than Talossa for that. But a great side effect was that the meetings gave the province a real meaning, which has always been a problem otherwise for Talossa.

The wall of text doesn't bother me too much. It's totally overkill, but if your having fun with it then go for it.
I just don't see why I need to provide you with copies of my official ID. Why does some dude in Germany need to see my home address and possibly hold it on a database before I can meet some folk in a pub or restaurant?
If a meet up is organised, and I can make it then I'll make it, but I'm not applying for your friendship with documentation.

It is not about me, and it need not be your ID per se. Anything that proves you live in Europe, or that you reside more often than not within Europe will do; a metro subscription card of a public transport within a European country, a library membership card of a library within a European country, a student’s ID of a university within Europe. Anything goes. What is also important, is mostly to know the non-Talossan legal names of members, because, if a meeting should be organised, booking accommodations for all participants at once is cheaper than everbody booking their own accommodations. And for these things, you mostly need to convey such information about guests to the revenue that will host. I can unilaterally waive this requirement for people, but at one time or another, somebody among us will need such information to book rooms for a meet-up. We could, of course, let everybody book their own accommodations, but that would also mean we would be strewn across the whole place. Maybe that, too, is a good idea. I don't know. But there can be no consensus and no development, if no-one tells me what they think. For the time being, I am removing the requirement for proof of residence. If, at a time, people should think it prudent, we'll just re-introduce it.

If, at a time, people should think it prudent, we'll just re-introduce it. My preferences are simple. In a thread here on Witt we discuss dates and places. Then we vote, perhaps on Doodle. And when we have a date and a place, one of us can check out places to stay and let people know, and we'll book individually which is a lot simpler to organise. And then we meet.

Well, the idea here is not just to meet up once in a while, it is to interconnect, to give people a means wherewith to engage oneself long-term outside of politics. The Charta serves to also lure in those who want to do something other than politics, but who still like order, or drafting statutes.
It makes little sense demanding/wishing for more cultural, more non-political organisations, and then raising your eyebrows at people who try to do just that.

I wish you luck with the new organisation. Talossa definitely needs more of a cultural life. If you ever hold any meetings, let me know and I'll try to attend.
