And so, capping the current nobility (limiting title-creep) is my favored way to hold the line of populist spirit in Talossa. Grandfather in the existing folks, and recognize that nobility without limits becomes a challenge (like the "Golden Liberty" of members of the Sejm in feudal Poland).

I want to tag on with a follow-up question for the Free Democrats: Would you work to abolish the orders given the chance? As a wannabe free-dem, here are my thoughts: Orders are okay. Creating new "king like" titles is not a good idea. Examples of "king-like" titles: Baron Duke Lord etc. Sir or Dame is okay whereas the titles that indicate landed nobility are not. No need to disenfranchise the current titleholders. I am more interested in keeping title inflation in check, than in being concerned about whether or not there are too many orders. How did I not see this question before? This isn't FreeDem policy, but I wouldn't "revoke" the feudal titles, I would just never give any more out. People in France can still call themselves the Duc d'Oleum or the Marquis de Carabas or whatever, it just doesn't mean anything. I would go back to "Për la Naziun" (with the optional title of Sir/Dame) being the highest and only title in the State, like the French Légion d'Honneur, and legislate that any other decorations and awards less than that will never carry a title (only letters after the name, like OBE).
