You were going to moderate the debate, I thought?
Also, I forget: who is M3 and in charge of running the election?

I am definitely not M3. I wanted the Chancery to run our election, personally, since the Chancery gets results that are hugely better than the last time we tried. But I didn't want to stand in the way of active reform that might be worth a try. If you want to be M3, though, we should have a vote and appoint you immediately.

I have to stand with my opponent on this one, I am afraid. We were a bunch of knuckleheady good-for-nothings last time we tried, and it was a huge embarrassment for the province. Who came up with this glorious idea that we were to run the elections, anyway? Heads should roll! WHERE IS A MONARCHY FIGURE, WHEN YOU NEED THEM?

Ian, interesting in moderating a debate between myself and Epic? If he's agreeable, that is I'd be happy to, given that the other potential moderator is, well, departed.
The debate will be text based. Each candidate will be given a chance to answer each question, alternating who goes first, and then allowed to rebut in the same order the question was answered. Failing to respond in 24 hours constitutes forfeiting your turn.
Here are my questions;
Opening Statement How do you plan to actively involve the citizenry of M-M in your decision-making process? At what points, if any, would your own personal opinions or beliefs on a topic cause you to vote against what the majority of M-M citizens want? What legislation would you like to see passed in your first six months in office? Interestingly enough, the moderator and the two candidates were the sponsors of the 3/4 Majority Amendment. What other steps, if any, need to be taken to ensure the accountability of the monarch and create a fair balance of power? What role do you believe the monarch should play in today's Talossa? The Royal Commission on the Organic Law seeks a substantive overhaul of our nation's most important document. To what extent do you believe the OrgLaw needs to be reformed, and what specific articles need to be changed? What other issue do you feel the strongest about, and why? What will you do to address it? How would you rate yourself on a 0-10 peculiarist-derivatist scale and on a 0-10 republican-monarchist scale? Are there any other scales you would like to rate yourself on? Closing Statement
Do the candidates agree on the format and on the list of questions? I tried to make it comprehensive, anything I should add? Are all the questions phrased neutrally? I would like the start the debate fairly soon because I don't know how long it will take

I would gladly participate, but I must object to the 16-hours-deadline. Given the fact that we have almost a whole month before Elections begin, I'd request at least 24 hours, if not even one day and a half (i.e. 36 hours), until a party is deemed to have forfeited.
I think we should also leave wiggle room for last-minute questions, or maybe questions from the people?

I would be ok with 36 hours, though I may have to speed it up at the end if we are running out of time.
I did not mean for my list to be end-all-be-all, I could still add more. I will also solicit questions from the people (good idea)

A day would seem better, since we've got twelve exchanges to get through. That's twenty-four responses, plus any moderator prompts or rebuttals!
So split the difference at a day?
I also agree that we should be open to last-minute questions, but let's only accept them from M-Mers, so this little election doesn't get nationalized.

Anyone have a recommended start date? The national debate starts Jan 25, so, if want to beat them, we should start before then. How does the 22nd sound?
