I am bumping this to remind anyone who is interested in membership that we are in a current membership window! So far I've received only one application (but many people are interested).

I will apply in the next window, when I have received my A-levels.

Anything I can do to help things along? Not sure. At this point in time, we have four applications. The window closes in a couple weeks.

I'm just getting my feet wet in the ponds and mud puddles of your glorious country, but it seems like a nice place. I'm looking to carve out a niche for myself. I got my Masteration degree (earned at the University of Alberta, see my bio at www.last.fm/music/Matt+Love/+wiki for more info) in Ethnomusicology. Is there any interest in Ethnomusicology among members of The Royal Society for Advancement of Knowledge? I hope some day to get my Doctoration degree, the folk music traditions of Talossa would be a worthy research topic. Where do I find some?

I hope some day to get my Doctoration degree, the folk music traditions of Talossa would be a worthy research topic. Where do I find some? I know little to nothing about ethnomusicology, but a study of Talossan folk music traditions would be fascinating. Aside from the links Glüc provided in response to your last post, here are some aspects of Talossan musical tradition that come to mind: 1. Talossan-language translations of non-Talossan songs. In recent years, translations of Christmas and other holiday songs have been popular. 2. Filk/parody, often with a political or satirical slant 3. Patriotic songs 4. During the days of the Republic, if I recall correctly, one of the republicans once challenged the King to a rap battle. He didn't take the bait.
