50 Word Statement
We've always believed Talossa is a Utopian project. Pursuing that dream, we'll streamline the Government, focussing it on encouraging culture and international engagement. We'll raise charitable funds to help causes dear to our nation's heart. We'll defend our beloved monarchy by keeping it out of politics. Vote Progressive this August!
Marquee Policies
Our three main planks are based on our three core values – Talossan Utopianism, Talossan Humanitarianism, and Talossan Monarchism.
*Cabinet and Civil Service Reform (Talossan Utopianism)
The current legally mandated Cabinet is not fit for service for a nation of Talossa's peculiar circumstances, where our government ought to focus on stimulating national culture and our engagement with the outside world. The Progressive Party will reform the Cabinet by amalgamating the Ministry of Home Affairs with the Ministries of Defence and Immigration into a new Ministry of the Interior. This will not only mean the abolition of do-nothing sinecures (Home and Defence) but also the depoliticisation of Immigration. Whilst “MinInt” will take over responsibility for immigration policy, an apolitical civil service Permanent Secretary of the Interior will be appointed to administer immigration itself as well as assist the Minister in other areas. The other remaining ministries (Culture, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Justice, and Stuff) will also have Permanent Secretaries appointed to assist them in administrative matters.
*Reviving the Humanitarian Aid Fund (Talossan Humanitarianism)
Talossa is our Utopia. It represents that which is best about nations. Its peculiar circumstances allow it to focus on those things that are most integral to nations. We don't need to spy on our enemies or run controversial health programs. Instead we can spend our energy on being a “city on a hill”, shining our light to other nations. In pursuit of that we will refound the Talossan Humanitarian Aid Fund, which will run targeted charitable campaigns seeking voluntary contribution. All donations given be on behalf of “the People of the Kingdom of Talossa”.
*Defend the Honour of the Monarchy (Talossan Monarchism)
Those who dismiss monarchy are the sort of people who prefer pebbles in a row to an arch. Our monarchy is beautiful and worth defending. However – because of the fallibility of human beings – our monarchy must be kept as separate from politics as is practicable. To that end – as an example – we would seek either to “nationalise” Witt (that is – we would seek to transfer it to MinStuff's administration) or we would create new boards under the aegis of MinStuff to house all governmental functions.
