Would anyone care to begin discussion on this Act?

Esteemed Mençei, fellow senators,
I was a bit surprised by this act. One of the whereas clauses notices that it is "next to impossible to hold someone accountable". One might expect that the bill that follows would make this more possible. Instead, however, the burgermeister can now only be removed by the King. Now, I dont doubt the wisdom of our King, but we also need to realise that King sometimes has other things on his mind than the position of the burgermeister. Also, removing the burgermeister is probably a rather controversial decision. It might be difficult to make such a decision without democratic mandate. The burgermeister does not serve just the King, but the entire country. I do believe that there should be democratic way to hold the burgermeister accountable. Therefore it would, to me, be preferable if the burgermeister could also be removed by 2/3rds of the Cosâ or something like that. I do not doubt the good intent of the sponsor of this bill. Im just not quite sure whether this bill truly serves the intent behind it. I will therefore vote CON on this proposal and urge my fellow Senators to do the same.

I ask the Seneschal to address the Senates.

Gräts Estimat Mençei,
The bill under consideration is not being accurately portrayed by the esteemed Senator. It is clearly written that "The Burgermeister of Inland Revenue shall be appointed by the Seneschal and shall only be removed by the King with a 2/3 vote of the Ziu." (that's both the Cosa and the Senate).
Additionally, the Burgermeister is an officer of the Royal Household and should in some form serve at the pleasure of His Majesty. This bill simply proposes that the removal process be more stringent to ensure the continuity of the man or woman holding the national purse strings.
The "whereas" that mentions it being next to impossible reads in its entirety: "WHEREAS we have lost or misplaced funds and documents, and it is next to impossible to hold someone accountable" It is obvious, to me and the other 7 sponsors of the bill that something must be done because funds have been misplaced from previous Burgermeisters. Continuity is critical when dealing with our treasury.

Ah it seems I was looking at the wrong text. (the one in the thread). My apologies. I will comment on the proposed version when I have time.
