Well, the old President of the Talossan Republic made a patriotic speech on this day. Patrie in French means not just the country you come from, but your homeland, your anavatán (in Turkish and in Talossan, interestingly enough). So, Fiôvâ is that, for those of us who spent 8 or 4 or however many years under the Four Stars On Red And Green.
So I do hope that we will maintain this provincial holiday and my successors as Capitán will keep this tradition up. And I do hope we get a successor as Capitán soon. Two years is by far long enough to be leader of you ornery so-and-so's - although now I suppose our friend The Appointee Perþonest is now the titual head of state, so we should give him something to do. But anyway, I look forward to stepping down as head of government ASA freakin' P.
Let me just leave you with this thought. Our esteemed provincial brother cxhn. Polarbear says that he misses "the touch and feel" of the Republic. Is there, I ask him and all of you, anything else we can do to recreate that "touch and feel" in Fiôvâ? Would it be simply a matter of bringing back Witt-XII or something that looks like it? Or is it something deeper, something cultural?
Just something to chew on. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

When I was President, it was my opinion and practice that no servant ( = minister and / or other highup ) of the Republic should leave hir office without a good verbal pat on the shoulder. I'm not a President or anything else, but thanks for the good job that you did in the driver's seat of the Republic, and then during the transition phase.
As for the "touch and feel", that may be our good old Witt XII, but even more so, it's the fever and responsibility that I felt for the Republic as our common, and therefore, also my very own project. It's nice and dandy to be here in the united Talossa now, there are good people etc., but some things aren't touching me, by now. For example, politics. I'm not reading the forums of the Ziu, for instance, at least not with baited breath or boiling blood, like back in the days of the Republic.
To some extent that's okay, like some kind of the lukewarm freedom of a pensioner, but on the other hand, something is missing. I hope that this something, whatever it is, will return. Kind of like a return from a nice warm seat in the audience to some hot action on stage. I guess it will come, by and by, for instance if the monarchy is acting so monarchist that I won't be able to bear it any longer. Let's see if Cunstaval Ehrbar will do a sterling job in this... ;D
