That's pretty much what I figured. On consideration, I didn't see any way that you guys would open it up or permit outsider access. That's unfortunate, but I guess I understand. I know a lot of nasty things were said at times of great passion during discussions between the Republic and Talossa, with the expectation that no one would be able to see them but other Republicans. And of course there's probably also just a lot of personal stuff, like you say. I was curious, for obvious reasons, but... well, c'est la vie.

You could apply for citizenship in the rapidly sinking Republic. Or you could just believe me that we didn't obsess or vent about the Kingdom all the way. Most of the time both half-nationettes were standing back-to-back, I suppose, at least from my point of view.

The old Republican motto was "the only title which is has any real nobility is citaxhiên". I still like it. . After noticing the the dicussion on the Rerpublican WITT I saw this above quote. Maybe You could Continue With the Title of first Citizen for Cheif Executive of your Province witch i believe is the alternate title for the President of the Republic

I too would like to politely state that my assent also will not be given. Things said in that forum were said in confidence and it would be unfair to betray that now. Awww, come on! I want to know what you said about me, so I can learn from it and become a better person! I'm afraid the worst things ever said about you is that you're a scheming Diplomacy player. Are you really prepared to give up on Diplomacy?

As I see it, the Republican Citizens' Forum is morally equivalent to private email. There's a lot of that stuff on that forum which I personally don't want revealed just yet (yes, mainly personalised rants against Talossan Royalists and Kings in general and pompous oaths of the "we will bury them" sort), but I'm sure it won't matter in, say, five years.
I would recommend the archives being opened five years to the day after reunision; but with every citizen and ex-citizen being allowed to veto release of their own personal contributions for another five years.

Even if I never get to see the archives of that forum, or even if it takes ten years or twenty, please find some way to preserve them. We've already lost too much of those artifacts of the past. Have someone with current access download the database and zip it up into an archive, then distribute that archive to multiple people.

I have zero want or need to see this private board and did not even know of it's existence until now, but I too urge the Republic to ensure that it's history is preserved, somehow.

Have someone with current access download the database and zip it up into an archive, then distribute that archive to multiple people. We can't do this. As I explained (or forgot to explain), the database is human readable (plain text) and contains all Private Messages, that is, stuff that is a dozen times more private than the private forum. You can't distribute this to muliple people, for legal reasons. At least not without a lot of documents in which all authors and recipients of such messages confirm that they assent to said distribution. If someone you forgot to ask would start a lawsuit because of a breach of confidence or privacy or some such, you're already in jail with one leg, at least over here, in Germany.

Well, since someone already has access to the database backup, they have de facto access to all of those messages. It doesn't seem like much of a leap for that person to download the database, archive it into a 7z or zip, and encrypt it with a password in order to preserve it for the future.

For myself and for a veeeery-long-time at least, let's keep the Citizen's Lounge secret to only those who were members. I also say let's close it to posting once reunision comes if only for symbolic reasons.
I will eventually make all my Seneschál updates public, but I will do so only after making judicious edits, and I will not include any replies to those said updates.
The Citizen's List was intended as a place where we could dish and dish freely as though we were on the sort of email list that we had during the reign of Mad King Ben -- never intended to be made public.
I certainly get the point that an incredible amount of Talossan history is on that forum, and perhaps someday should be shared, but like James Madison with the American constitutional convention archives (or whatever it was), I daresay it would not be safe to make that forum public until every single member is dead and gone -- literally.
I'm for keeping it secret.

Maybe. It's a fact though that these posts were outnumbered by both 1) posts that should have been made publically, but people preferred having a smaller audience than the world and 2) discussions we thought were sensitive, such as the Talossa trademark, which domains we wanted to retain, our chances of achieving reunification (in the earlier days), etc.
