Well, class, I want to thank you all for participating in this somewhat-rocky class. It was the first for me, and the first for the University, so the bumps were perhaps to be expected.
I hope you learned enough about Hemingway to be a hit at dinner parties, and to maybe appreciate his novels. If you liked him, I strongly recommend A Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and The Sun Also Rises, his big three novels. There are also many more excellent short stories in your book that you might enjoy.
All finals were due last night. I have almost all of them; people who have not yet turned theirs in may do so late, but they will receive a penalty of ten points (one letter grade) per day on their final.
I have already calculated the grade of everyone else. Your grades are arrived at by a fairly simple formula: your participation grade averaged with your final grade. Your participation grade is arrived at by calculating the percentage of classes "attended" (where you posted and discussed, and answered any questions), with bonus points I assigned per day you participated in exemplary fashion.
I will send you your grade via forum PM. In another week, I will close out grading, send out the remaining grades, and then contact the university registrar with your grades.
Thank you all for participating, and I have enjoyed this very much.

Now that the course is concluded, do those who pass become eligiable for credentials?

The course is a three-credit course, as listed on the syllabus. Those who pass receive three credits on their University transcript, towards whatever degrees the University offers in the future. I don't know what Regent Laira is planning with that; I can tell you that I am giving credits and grades, but you'll have to ask the Regent what will become of them. And welcome to Talossa, by the by.

First of all, I'd like to express our gratitude to Professor Davis for a wonderful class. His teaching has set the bar extremely high for future university courses. He was extremely organized, posed interesting questions to his students, and followed his syllabus and its schedule so that students knew exactly what to expect. I know that I have learned a tremendous amount from this instructor. Thank you from everyone at l’Üniversità Talossan!
Next, I'd like to explain that students who are receiving credit for this or any future courses will be eligible for a degree. The details of this degree program are still being worked out, but a nifty certificate is one of the great rewards.
Iac, I'm glad you are interested in the university. Keep checking as new courses are currently being approved and created.
Aspra Roseta Laira, Regent

I also wish to express my appreciation for the efforts of S:reu Davis - this was an interesting and informative endeavor. To anyone who would like it, I have picked up a copy of "A Farewell to Arms" from a site of www.bookcrossing.com and I will be happy to mail it to anyone who would like it, who in turn can mail it on to someone else. For a truly Talossan finish to this course (perhaps this could become a University tradition?), I refer the hard-working students to the following link, allowing them to build themselves a well-earned reward: a Hemingway Cocktail. Hooligan
