..... The best suggestion I have heard (I believe it came from Count Dan) is Benito, as it honours "Little Ben", our nation's founder, maintains a connection to the former name of the province, and yet does not smack so much of totalitarianism.... Hooligan Yes, that's right. Seeing it this way, Benito would the the best possible choice!

Hooligan Yes, that makes sense. The members of the CC will vote and see where it ends up. I agree Benito is a good replacement though.

For you are selecting a name for a Talossan province, not some random Italian-themed micronation. You and I both know where the micronation reference came from... ;D However, I do see your point... The best suggestion I have heard (I believe it came from Count Dan) is Benito, as it honours "Little Ben", our nation's founder, maintains a connection to the former name of the province, and yet does not smack so much of totalitarianism. I had seen the suggestion of Benito as well, while reviewing previous threads discussing this topic, but I was initially drawn away from it because I had believed that it still payed too much homage to the authoritarian dictator. However, when considering the "Little Ben" notion, Benito does seem to be an excellent (and probably the best) choice. In order to avoid any further unintentional mistakes regarding Talossan law and politics, I'm going to avoid weighing in on any majour decisions or discussion for a little while, at least until I've read the Statutory and Organic Laws in their entirety, as well as "Ar Pats" and those historical archives dug up a few weeks ago... time for me to get reading!

Don't be too wary of chiming in. Just don't be surprised if you bring up things that have already been discussed before. But do read the OrgLaw as soon as you can, and the statutory laws as you have time. And those who have been here longer should try to avoid being overly sensitive.

Mussolini screwed up the name "Benito" for every Benito in his and in subsequent generations. This gives us an opportunity to restore the name to a place of honor despite the most famous "Benito" being a butt munch.
