Azul S:reu Françal, Is this a proposed university department? (In the U.S. we use the term "department" for various schools within a university, the term college is often used to mean a two-year program of study or commonly it is used as a synonym for university. I'm not sure what the Talossa name for this is, would it be translated from the term college or department?) Would you propose offering courses within the department of theology? Or do you envision it more as a student club where students discuss such issues? I'd be open to exploring the possibilities. I have received other private messages which have expressed interest in such a department. This would be an excellent place to receive input from the citizens at large. If the citizens express their need or want for this department, or if there is a strong opposition to the creation of it, I am calling for input in this thread. I hope especially to hear from the Registrar, Flip Molinar. After ten days (on March 22), I will review the opinions and make a decision. If such department is formed, I would then accept applications for department head. Regent Many Universities in the states also use the term "college" for specific schools within the University. For example. I went to the University of Scranton which had the "Panuska College of Professional Studies" and the "College of Arts and Sciences" as well as the "College of Graduate Education." Each College had departments within it and each college was part of the University System. So a student studying say, Nursing, would be a student of the Panuska College of Professional Studies though his/her diploma would still be issued by the University of Scranton.

The main campus of the University of Talossa, located at Abbavilla in Atatürk Province, supports the following twelve schools and colleges: - School of Architecture and Urban Planning
- Peck School of the Arts
- Helen Bader School of Social Welfare
- Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business
- School of Continuing Education
- School of Education
- College of Engineering and Applied Science
- Graduate School
- College of Health Sciences
- School of Information Studies
- College of Letters and Science
- College of Nursing
The discussion here, I believe, is on the scholastic and/or collegiate system being established for the University's extension campus (a land grant for which has been offered by the province of Cezembre) which holds classes online, and is even more directly overseen by the Regent of the University of Talossa than is the main campus (whose administration the King's Regent has wisely pawned off on a bunch of Cestours and GTA residents). Hope this helps. Hooligan

This seems to have broken up into too separate discussions. The first on the establishment of a chaplaincy to the University. The second on the establishment of a School(Department, College, what have you) of Theology.
A chaplaincy would be totally separate of the University administration similar to the "missions" many different religions set up near university campuses. This is, I think, what the original poster is suggesting. This type of program would not offer classes through the University because it would need to be a separate entity as these are clearly supporting one religion over another.
A school of theology would be a division of the University and offer classes taught by accredited instructors.
I think both are a good idea, but attempting both may be a little ambitious right now given the limited resources of the University administration.

I do believe that this discussion has broken into two. I also agree that attempting to set up both a department and a chaplaincy would be too ambitious at this time. I have had more than ten days to consider the proposal. S:reau Françal, If you wish to set up a Multifaith Chaplaincy as a thread within the Online College of the University of Talossa, the University would be happy to support, but not sponsor, this endeavor. Such an entity would be a safe place for citizens to come together to discuss religion. Should a time come that we offer religious studies courses within the College of Letters and Science it will be great to draw from the pool of citizens who are active in the chaplaincy as instructors. I have discussed this with the Registrar, Flip Molinar, and we are in agreement. Good luck with your Chaplaincy. I trust that it will be an asset to our community. Aspra Roseta Laira

Azul D:nâ Aspra Roseta Laira,
Thank you for your kind interest in the chaplaincy and for the opportunity for initiating a multifaith chaplaincy in the University. I'd like to start shortly although there will be a short delay as I need to attend to some other matters that have arisen and may take some months to arrange. Although entirely positive in nature, the latest matters that distract me were unforseen.
I will come back to this project with vigour as I am able.
Stefan Françal

It's a very good idea... it seems that way back in 2008, it didn't go further... but I think it's worthy to try it again...

We can deem this thread the beginning of such an entity. If it grows from here, it can grow within the university.
Would someone wish to begin the conversation?

I'd be interested in helping and can offer my assistance as an ordained Wiccan minister. I see the posts are old, but again... it's worth bringing it back up!

Alright... So it just seems like we need someone to grab the reigns and make this happen. Any volunteers? Otherwise I can try to wrangle it.
