I have translated the great hymn "Amazing Grace" into talossan at: kingdomoftalossa.net/index.cgi?lingo=&page=Mer%FEedes-Ama%E7%EEndEventually I will probably record a sung version of it. But before I do that, I want to make sure it's compeletely correct, could someone proofread it for me? (It's not an exact translation, but it is quite close.) For instance, should I use prüm or primalaiset?

For one thing, the absence of subject pronouns makes it a little hard to follow, since so many of the verbs (like füt) have the same form for multiple persons. Prüm and pirmalaiset are pretty much interchangeable, except when you're talking about monarchs (it's Regeu Ián Pirmalaiset, never Regeu Ián Prüm).

Thanks, Hooligan's been helping me quite a bit with it. We hope to finish it soon, and then "go all post-arestadâ on its ass"

A good start! I see some things that will have to be fixed -- I'll proofread it in detail when I have more time. For one thing, the absence of subject pronouns makes it a little hard to follow, since so many of the verbs (like füt) have the same form for multiple persons. Unfortunately, we are already a little tight on syllables, adding "Eu"'s in there could make it worse. Personally, i think, "Füt orp, más nun vïu" is a perfectly fine translation and it fits very well in the song. I think that you can probably get the person from context. We have this similar problem in Spanish because the first person imperfect of -ar verbs is the same as the third person imperfect, and the first person plural present, is the same as the first person plural preterite, but you can almost always get the answer from context.
