My dear Talossans,
I do not stand before you typing this message to change the language (and what little I know of it) but to merely make it more user friendly. I
Many of us who would like to type more in Talossan find it rather time consuming to have to constantly run to the ASCII chart on our computers to make these symbols, not to mention the combination for each symbol drastically reduces type time.
I offer two ways of dealing with this:
A)
So what I would like to propose doing is, while never changing the accents, offerieng an informal (not to be used in official chat) way of typing. The example I will give is in German, for it is the only other language I have background in.
German has the umlaut as well as the esset, umlauts are two dots over AOU. Now, if one is in a situation where it can not be typed, an e is put following the letter to imply that vowel has an umlaut. so für (for) becomes fuer (for). Although it looks dull, it is a lot easier to type. But when I'm typing more formally I still have to switch over.
II)
Lets make a keyboard lay out for the Talossan language. There are programs today that can help remap keyboards as well as add special characters. Granted, learning a slightly different keyboard takes time, but it also makes it easier to type as well as gives more easier access to the different diatricles(sp?) Finally, all PC computers are equipped with built in Windows/Linux software that supports different keyboard lay outs.
Please let me know what you think, I'm not trying gto change the language, just make it easier to type!
I hope I have not hit any nerves with this.
