I don't know how letting the language splinter into a half-dozen different idiolectal varieties is supposed to help with its revitalisation.
The CÚG's old guard, and as far as I can gauge it Tomás as well, doesn't care enough to make any productive changes, but are quick to torpedo any and all attempts to do anything about it.
I give up.

I just contacted Tomás on Facebook. He apologises for being swamped and says he'll get back to you tonight. Never give up. Talossa works bloody slowly but it does work if you don't lose patience.

Well, the former orthographic rules and practices were arbitrary choices, none of which were based on actual usage. It always alienated some chunk of the Ladintsch community, and there was always disparity because at no point in time did everyone agree to every single orthographic rule. If we avoid giving “prestige” to one version of Talossan, then maybe with time, the Ladintsch community will gravitate towards the best orthographic practices by themselves, so that SIGN can observe, codify and maybe streamline the development into a standard.

Or, everyone sticks to their own idiosyncratic spelling, nobody gravitates towards anything and no agreement or standard is reached. As an example, Miestra managed to resist the CÚG standard for years on end without gravitating towards it in any way. Who is to say it's going to be different this time?

As an example, Miestra managed to resist the CÚG standard for years on end without gravitating towards it in any way. Can I be precise here? I use 1997-era Talossan spelling because that's what I learned and that was the standard in the Talossan Republic 2004-2011, not some oddball orthography I made up myself. Tomás Gariçéir still promotes that spelling as well. AFAIK there are only two "standard orthographies": the 1997 orthography and the 2007 orthography. I find it highly unlikely that any other "standards" will emerge unless some nerd is severely dedicated. Of course, people might compromise between the two orthographies, but there are inherent limits on how weird the spelling can get. I doubt, for example, that anyone is going to start spelling glheþ as "llyeth". Of course, I'm not opposed to SIGN declaring a New Standard Orthography sometime in the future. Remember that we have got 90% of the way there, we just need to decide on the use of î. But that would mean writing a new Treisour and updating l'Överstéir, which are all long-term projects. My priority is getting Talossa used now and worrying about standards later, and I think Ladîntsch Naziunál Iac Marscheir agrees. We are still cleaning up the mess made by the CÚG in 2007 when they forked the language without giving a damn what Republican speakers thought.
