Updates to the Cabinet Code of Conduct

Estimats citaxhiêns: following certain assurances that the Provisional Cabinet will indeed be full established by the King in short order, we feel it appropriate to announce an updated version of the Cabinet Code of Conduct, complete with enforcement mechanisms. We want to stress that all Ministers have pledged to abide by this new text. I particularly want to draw attention to the new chapter concerning financial conflicts of interest.

(1) I'm not Distain. 
(2) In your Victorian sense of language, I breached the Code of Conduct. I have censored/removed the alleged offending language from the post, informed the Seneschál and the Cabinet of the breach, and await the public warning required under the Code of Conduct. 

Mr. Davinescu, I do hope you'll accept my apology for being honest in my feelings towards you. It does sadden me that people find honesty offensive. So please accept this heartfelt apology--I'm sorry that you found my use of language offensive.

1) The Distáin is Munditenens Tresplet, who has been ill and absent most of the last week and thus spared of this stupidity.

2) I mean what I say, and I hotly object to anyone claiming I don't. In accordance with the Cabinet Code of Conduct, I hereby give a public warning to the Attorney-General, Senator Viteu Marcianüs, that such language is inappropriate for a cabinet minister, especially at times when tempers are rising.

3) In fact, I am so grumpy about the suggestion that I would just let V get away with this, that I am minded to challenge the Leader of the RUMP to fisticuffs.

It's generally accepted - Code of Conduct or no Code of Conduct - that "punching down" is unethical, that those in a position of power and responsibility are to be held to a higher standard of behaviour than Joe Blow off the street. Even if "Joe Blow" is childish, trolling, or blatantly attempting to use a situation to score political points against the Government. That's an unfortunate fact, which I have stressed to my Cabinet.

Accordingly, Senator Viteu Marcianüs, the Attorney-General, today offered me his resignation from Cabinet, knowing that he had - for the second time this week - overstepped the bounds of courtesy in his dealings with the public.

I rejected that offer of resignation because a) the Senator still has important work to do in the office of Attorney-General this term, and no-one else is available to take that on; b) no-one has actually asked for his resignation. But consider this his second public warning in one week.
