Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who supported me for Maestro. I hope to accomplish more this time around than I did during my first tenure as Maestro.
Secondly, I would like to thank the outgoing Maestro, Cresti Françell, for...uh...keeping the seat warm.
Article 13 of the Benitian Constitution states that I, as Maestro, "shall have the power to issue proclamations which have the force of law." For my first act as Maestro, I would like to issue the following proclamation:
THE LINGUAGGIO TERZIARIO PROCLAMATION
Whereas, of late, Benito has seen a large influx of new citizens originating from the nation of Italy, and
Whereas, Benito, since its foundation, has had an Italian flavor to its provincial symbols and culture, and
Whereas, the Constitution of Benito allows for the adoption of tertiary working languages, and
Whereas, it seems only fair to recognize and adopt as a working language a language that is the native tongue of a large number of Benitians,
Therefore, I, Maestro Iason Bitxichè Taiwos, proclaim that from this day forward, Benito shall recognize Italian as a working language within the province.
Proclaimed by me, Saturday, August 25th, 2018.
(Admiral Tim actually proposed this a few years back, but for some reason never did anything with it. Being as how the Constitution states that tertiary languages may be adopted, I didn't think Article Five needed to be amended to include Italian.) (This really isn't much of a world shaking proclamation, but it's a start.)
It's early in the morning as I type this, so I don't have all my wits about me yet (do I ever?) but I found I'd jotted down some notes a few days ago concerning things I thought we may discuss (or not) concerning our glorious province. They are:
-get the Benito Mapping Project restarted. (Lüc looks like he's done a little with this just with his Canton/parish stuff on another thread.)
- The old Benito Moonfruit website is outdated. Do we need a new website or is what is on Talossawiki enough?
-what ways can we get and keep Benitians active in the life of our province?
I'm always open for discussion on these or any other topics concerning Benito. Talk to me, people!
Lastly, to Erschévetg, I don't know exactly what an alderman/woman does either. Have any previous Maestros ever appointed anyone to that position? Looks to me like you could define what an Alderwoman does. Set precedents, make Benitian history!
Okay, I'm going back to bed now.
