Unlike Corpus Christi in the central part of the Texas Gulf Coast, Houston so far - so far, mind you - has had a mostly-easy time of it with Hurricane Harvey, particularly my part of town (west Houston) which has had the great fortune of lying so far within a gap between two of the storm's 'bands'. The storm made landfall near the town of Rockport, Texas. The big city near there is Corpus Christi, which as far as I can tell, survived amazingly well considering a Category-4 hurricane has just paid a visit. Rockport, of course, was not so lucky. Within the next twenty-four hours, the Corpus Christi area will begun the process of rebuilding and cleaning up, but for the Greater Houston area, the fun has not yet started. Harvey is forecast to meander through southeast Texas, dropping terrible amounts of rain on the way. My understanding is Houston will start seeing real rain beginning tonight. This is no sprint for us, and your prayers and thoughts are appreciated! UPDATE as of 28 Aug 1241 CDT: Houston has had a hellacious time with Harvey. Nothing short of catastrophic...

0054 CDT - Harvey is a rain-machine. Plain and simple. We've flirted with house-flooding, already, and we'll see how things go from here. So far, so good...

Still, so far-so good. No flooding, but also no A/C - lol. We still have water, power, and gas.

My brother lives in Beaumont. This was his house on Monday, (he evacuated), and I guess more rain is on the way.

Hang in there, my man. The worst of it is still coming: Supreme Leader Cheeto just landed near Houston.

There are thousands of stories like his all throughout SE Texas and Louisiana. We are brothers and sisters united in common humanity. - GV

Thoughts for any Floridian Talossans dealing with Hurricane Irma right now.
Most of Georgia is under a tropical storm warning, but it looks like we won't get hit too hard.
