I don't drink, so instead, have one for me!
You do seem to have a Kickstarter problem, though... ;)
I do!!!
I backed 118 projects!!!!
However, I do have a double defense for me...
1 ) There is something called the "Super Backer" badge. In the past it wasn't documented, so I experimented with it. I knew from analysis of other super backers that it didn't matter at ALL if projects were funded or not, so I began backing projects which had NO HOPES of getting funded, to get to the 60 backed project level, which was the lowest I had seen. After all, you don't pay if the project is not funded.
It didn't work, so I kept going, backing projects under the 20% funding 5 to 10 minutes before their end. Eventually however, Kickstarter decided to publish the rules: it's 20 projects in the last year backed at least 10$. I was pledging 1$, so they didn't count.
So, I began pledging 10$ to project which had ZERO chance and soon enough, I was a Super Backer!!!
2 ) While participating in my research, I discovered a few Super Backer programs. Most of them are scams, but 2 of them work like this: The project creators pay a fee to the program, and in exchange, the project is advertised to the members of the program. The members of the programs then decide (or not) to pledge and anounce to the program how much they pledged. In exchange, you get perks, like access to Early-Bird rewards even after the Early-Bird reward are gone, or 10% off the reward, or free shipping, or whatever. In one case, it was a DOUBLE THE REWARDS!!! Yeah!
Furthermore, you can get CASH BACK, that is, the super backer programs PAYS YOU some of the fees from the project creators. I haven't gotten any cash back yet, so I can't confirm if it's worth it or not.
Those super backer programs however only accept backers with a minimum number of backed project, and often, that minimum is 100 backed projects.
Now, I did back a LOT of succesfull project for Real for which I got the reward, and I did back several projects in the future which I can't wait to get the reward.
Examples of those I can't wait to get:
- The World Council, it's a board game which in itself doesn't seem THAT interesting, but it's an interesting game play mechanism which would have worked REALLY WELL with one of the board games I wanted to make
- Presli: The Anti-Theft Backpack. I love backpacks. What can I say. I LOVE backpacks. I have 4 backpacks right now that I use ALL OF THE TIME, and I can't wait to get this one. I am a back-pack hoarder ;-) I have a reading/notetaking backpack filled with pencils, notebooks and deep books. When I wait in the emergency room, I bring it and can work on the road. I have a hiking backpack, with plenty of water bottle holding spots, a first aid kit, tools, etc... I have a walk back-pack with a camel water reservoir and a snack pocket, and I have picnic backpack which has a cooler in it, plates, ustencils, etc... I always have a back-pack ready to go!
- Font Awesome 5: I use it at work.
- The 5 minute Dungeon: A filler board game that takes 5 minutes and seems fun!
- 100 Swords, the multiple player extension. I have 100 Swords from a previous KS, but this one adds the ability to play with more than 2 players. It's a fun game!
- Tiny Epic Quest: I already have 3 board games from the Tiny Epic series and they are AWESOME. I played Tiny Epic Galaxies yesterday with my wife!
- Tiny Epix Galaxies: Beyond the Black: Well, due, an expension to my favorite Tiny Epic game!
- Landed: a terraforming board game: This one looks AWESOME and is similar to my 2nd board game, but SO MUCH BETTER!
- Kult: Divinity Lost: Well, duh... I am a MAJOR Kult RPG fan, you already know this!
- Invisigun Heros: That one is late, it's a video game which I was looking forward to, but what can I say...
- Horsemen of the Apocalypse: looks like a fun cheap game
- Kraftwerks: a USB charger that works on Butane! It's looking like it will be a failure though...
Here are some of those I already got:
- Burger up: One of our favorite new games! I am not convinced it has great replay value, but so far, we have a LOT of fun with it.
- Mint Tin Mini Apocalypse: a great filler which takes almost no space. A little disappointed, but still fun.
- Microscope Explorer: a fun project RPG of a special type.
- 100 Swords: already mentionned above, it's a card drafting game (think Dominion), but in a Dungeon! What? And it's funny, and cool. Biggest problem: only 2 player, but the M.U.D. of the new campaign will solve this
- Entropy: one of the most beautiful card games I have! It's GORGEOUS. My daughter LOVES it. My wife is neutral, I don't like it that much.
- Seven7s: real Fun small quick game. I should really play more often. Deeper than I thought at first!
- Between Two Cities: seriously, this is my FAVORITE Kickstarter game! Plays in 15 minutes, AMAZING with 4 or more players, GREAT with 3 players, STILL FUN with 2 players. Interesting solo play with tons of variants.
- Pocket Imperium: That board game is a little disappointing, but I think it's only because my wife and daughter aren't agressive enough to make it fun ;-)
- Tiny Epic Galaxies: My favorite Tiny epic. Really fun. Just sad that it's not as varied as I would have hoped.
- Outer Earth: That game is odd. It has some of my favorite mechanics, and my 2nd games was REALLY fun (the first was too confusing to enjoy). I feel however that the replay value is very low.
- Tiny Epic Defenders: my second favorite Tiny Epic. Fun to play, but hard as hell to fun. It gets a little repetitive like most co-op games.
- Two room and a Boom: This game is INCREDIBLE!! WE've played really fun games with less than 10 people and can't wait to play a 20 people one!
- The great heartland hauling co: This game is the WORST I ever bought, period. Just horrible.
- Jumpshot: Loved the software until they switch to a subscription, loved my USB stick until it broke.
- Pebble: I really love my pebble, but now, I barely use it.
- Slingshot: I use it ALL OF THE TIME! It holds your cellphone so you can use a tripod!
- Kamakura: the first version SUCKED, so they sent to everyone a new version for FREE! And it's really a fun filler!
For many of the other projects, I only pledged a single dollar because I though it was cool, like Ardusat or Adventure on the Tabletop.
