Just some thoughts I'm having as I await tonights Pens game (come on, boys, bring Lord Stanley home!) I'm not aware if other provinces have the equivalent of "Talossas National (fill in the blank: anthem, sports team, passtime, cuisine, flower, film, whatever, etc.)". (I may be wrong, but I think one of the other provinces has a "provincial anthem".) In an effort to promote the creation of a unique provincial culture and identity, I am wondering if it would be worth our time to have provincial equivalents of such things. (Surely we have better taste than Taco Bell and Manos:the Hands of Fate.) If we're going for "Provincial dish", I nominate V. Conductours "assinets talossaes", Berberitos, which, as far as I know, is the only original Talossan themed dish in the Kingdoms history. Again, just an idea. (I'm sure Lüc would be on board with making tennis Benitos official sport...)

Tennis? Surely you mean Bolextrema? If only the footage from the Tournament of Waterloo was edited and released...

Now, let's see: an anthem would be cool, and even cooler if it was written/composed by a Benitian. A sports team... well we do have the Bucks but we could field a fictional team made up of Benitian citizens in a sport most of us are familiar with (no clue on that though). No clue on a national passtime either. I second your nomination on the provincial dish. Other stuff, meh. If any people other than me like/play tennis, then why not. We could also go full quirky and choose unlikely stuff.

I was pretty good (for an amateur child with not much practice) and loved tennis as a child. I'm terrible now. But still enjoy it. Iason and I played three games (with eight returns total!) last year. Paying homage to our digital access to our fine province, perhaps some sort of online game of skill could benefit from an official Benitian team. Anything from chess to StarCraft. What are my fellow provincials interested in?

Azul fellows Benitians! Browsing around the provincial section, I dug out this old thread and I really think it's a great idea to try and develop a provincial culture. An anthem would be a terrific thing! Maybe, a "national day" too?

Azul, Txec! Well, as you can see, there hasn't been much more discussion on this thread for a while, but maybe some of the newer Benitians can inject a little life into this topic.

I hope we can get some traction with this!
Also, is there any material, like a "guide" to the province for new citizens? I noticed other provinces have constitutions, geographical pamphlets, cultural references and so on.

Benito's virtual Davis Cup roster Conductour/da Schir/Taiwos is real in its virtuality as virtual progress has been made. Other than that the discussion is still very much open!

not sure, who cares, wasting it, I second assinets talossaes, thistle (we're a beautiful but prickly bunch), Fitzcarraldo, lava lamps Othello/Reversi as the official passtime? I encourage all Benitians to download Reversi Wars and Reversi World, and play Vitx and I.) A national day, April 20th (the day Benito was founded.) Spaghetti Western Weekend, the weekend closest to Sergio Leones' birthday as an annual festival. Provincial animal, the lynx. (I like Fitzcarraldo as our official film. For those who haven't seen it, Fitzcarraldo is a film about a dude who pulls a boat over a mountain. Could symbolize our fortitude and unwavering diligence against all obstacles keeping our province back.) (Right now, the mountain is inactivity.) Thistles and lava lamps are fine with me. (Lava lamp, symbolizing the connection between American and Italian citizens. Italians have exploding volcanoes all the time, right? We Americans bottled the lava in tribute...)

I Talossanized some terms for the sport of bocce, which have been approved by someone with better Talossan language skills than I have. So, we may be among the first provinces to have developed our own, unique terms for a particular sport. Bocce - buci Bocce court - iral da buci Bocce ball - bola da buci The small ball in bocce - balineu Also, "baiça Françal", French kiss, already a term in Talossan, but which in Benitian Buci refers to the practice of the losing team having to kiss a picture of a woman's bare buttocks following a shut-out. (The practice, which is still adhered to in some bocce circles, is said to have originated in France.)

The discussions in our fellow river-bordering Fiova made me realise it's time to resume the debate! For example, what would other Benitians expect from a provincial anthem? Should it be classical-ish sounding (?) or something more modern? As a trumpet player totally neutral fellow, I'd be partial to a march or other classical piece. Since it costs nothing to try and put something out, here's some proposals/examples of tunes I'd consider adequate: (Note: I didn't care where the various tunes came from)
