As to 48RZ29, I vote contra. It was recently pointed out to me that this change would allow the oldest MC a veto power over election outcomes. I'm not sure I agree with that, but when I took a close look, it does seem that the oldest MC would have disproportionate power in the process -- a power not in any way derived from a democratic mandate. It's an avenue for corruption. I'd urge that this bill be slightly changed and then resubmitted in the next Clark, since the basic idea is sound.
As to 48RZ30, I vote për. A good bill, and good work.
As to 48RZ31, I vote për. I am very skittish of the entire thing (c.f. the What-If-MPF-Gets-Hit-by-a-Bus worry), but this compromise might be the best chance forward.
As to 48RZ32, I abstain. I think it's a kind of funny joke, and so I don't want to oppose it, but I feel weird voting in favor of it.
As to 48RZ33, I vote contra. A waste of time and paper. If we want to back-up the laws, there are ways that are faster, better, and cheaper. If we want to produce physical artifacts, there are ways that are cooler and better.
As to 48RZ34, I vote për.
As to 48RZ35, I abstain again. I've gone back and forth on this, particularly after I saw that even the majority coalition putting forward this bill didn't fully support it. That's deeply troubling. I also fear that I'm not being sufficiently cynical... that I'll be back here next year, fighting the same battle, if I agree to compromise now on the principle that the majority parties shouldn't get to decide how a minority party is governed. But Ian compromised and showed good faith -- I will compromise and show good faith in return, and not oppose this bill.
As to 48RZ36, I vote për.
As to 48RZ37, I vote contra... mostly for linguistic reasons. If we're going to change the official name of the Cosâ to Cosă, it should probably be in its own bill and be accompanied by a pretty good explanation and be consistent all the way through the Organic Law. We definitely shouldn't be jumping back and forth between Cosâ and Cosă as we move through the document. I'd urge that this bill be slightly changed and then resubmitted in the next Clark, since the basic idea is sound.
As to RZ4838, I vote për.
As to the Vote of Confidence, I vote a strong non, and I am astonished that anyone of either party could do anything else -- whatever their marching orders from on high. The list of broken promises and shocking waste and just poor performance by this Government is shocking in its length.
It took five months and a front-page story in the news to force the Government to update basic information about the nation -- even including on the web portal. Stamps are being wasted sitting on a shelf, wasting hundreds of louise... we might as well have just directed the Burgermeister to bury some money in a hole. We've gotten promise after promise about coins, and no prospect of anything actually happening (although maybe a fundraiser will open right before the election by complete coincidence). The Government refuses to prosecute its political allies, and it took a floor speech on the Ziu and public embarrassment to force the A-X to post the required justice intervention system. No fundraiser for the voluntary contributions that the Government wanted in the law... another wasted opportunity! No public list of Supporters of Talossa -- how hard is it to make a list publicly available? No activity reports have been issued, despite the requirements of the law -- what happened to transparent government and the rule of law? No social media ambassadors have been appointed, even though I know people who tried to volunteer, and this is well after the Government insisted on putting it into law! There has been no use of social media at all -- forget Instagram or Pinterest or Google+, why aren't we using our Facebook page or reddit or Twitter? And what happened to the promised culture prize?
I do not have confidence in this Government to serve the Talossan people, given its past record and the complete lack of any changes in management, appointments, or procedure since these problems have been pointed out. If the last ruckus didn't do anything but get them circling their wagons to protect their power, then we should have no reason to think things will be different in the future.

Meanwhile, the conservative parties are deliberately sandbagging the Royal Commission, after the King sat on it for a month. Clearly "not doing your job" is okay if you're a RUMPer.

Dama Miestra, you declared that the RUMP would sandbag the Royal Commission before it even started. And then after we appointed members well within the time you declared necessary, you said they would sandbag it by not participating. And then when they did post and start getting involved, and it looks to be working just fine... they're sandbagging it in some other magical way?
These are busy people, Dama Miestra. They have full-time jobs, families, social lives, and other Talossan obligations. Sir Cresti is responsible for the extraordinary Talossan language instruction of this past term, for example, and he also writes an award-winning column for Beric'ht Talossan. Despite this, they still were willing to step forward and help on your Commission when they had no obligation to do so. And while you are eager to declare that someone -- anyone -- everyone! -- is sandbagging that body because they're not being appointed -- no, because they're not participating -- no, because they're not participating fast enough... there's a limit to how much this Government can distract people.
And honestly, the RUMP is never going to be perfect. I'll be the first to admit that. But this Government does not have my confidence, and no amount of distractions can change the laundry list of ways it has broken promises and failed to deliver.

And the same goes for all the members of the Government you're screaming at.

And the same goes for all the members of the Government you're screaming at. Dama Miestra, I am not "screaming." I am a member of the Ziu in good standing and a citizen of Talossa, and I am listing the many ways in which my Government has failed. Tone arguments are no excuse for failure. I fully understand that the Minister of Finance is busy, and that's why we have no coins and why stamps are being wasted on a shelf. I fully understand that the Minister of Stuff is busy, and that's why it took five months and a front-page story to get basic website information updated and that's why our social media has no activity whatsoever. I fully understand that the Seneschal is busy, and that's why there have not been any of the mandatory activity reports and why there hasn't been any fundraiser. And so on. There are differences, of course. Your complaint is that the RUMP members of the Commission aren't replying fast enough, since it's been days since they participated. My complaint is that the Government hasn't done any of these things in fully six months. They're not really comparable... and even if they were, not germane to a vote of confidence in the Government. Is this the Government's response? No apology to the people for the broken promises? No mea culpa for the laws that have been ignored? Does attacking the RUMP cure all ills?

I can't speak for the Seneschál or the Distáin. I would certainly agree that there have been a lot of balls dropped by the current Government. But it is not my job to apologise on behalf of my colleagues, and I personally think I've done my jobs to the utmost (see argument in other thread on the A-G's responsibilities).

I am glad you agree that there have been a lot of failures. But let's stop clogging up this thread, and continue the conversation here. MPF, my apologies.

Inquiry from the Scribe to the Secretary of State
RZ32 is listed as NOT an Amendment in the Database.
However, it is amending OrgLaw. Please update the Datebase accordingly or correct me if I am wrong.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

It says it's listed as amendment, you much as misread it. The Chancery admits to no wrong doing, there is nothing to see here, move along. ;-) More seriously, thanks!

RZ29 - PER (Sir AD mentioned that this bill would "allow the oldest MC a veto power over election outcomes" I did not see any such thing in the bill. That does sound worrying though. If its true, maybe someone can point me at it. RZ30 - PER but honestly not an expert on this matter, so if anyone who is could give me a reason to vote against I would certainly consider it. RZ31 - PER RZ32 - CON RZ33 - CON because please no more bureaucracy! RZ34 - PER RZ35 - PER A step in the right direction. It does not concern intra party affairs, it's about the system we use to elect our parliament! No one thinks the asking the GOP to tell us which president you are electing if you cast a vote for them is interference in party affairs. That doesnt really change if we elect 200 people instead of 1. Voters should be able to vote for the people who represent them not just be forced to give a blank cheque. RZ36 - PER RZ37 - CON I'm not neccesarily against an option for the population to bypass the Ziu, but 6 citizen seems way too few to force a referendum. There's a good reason we elect people to read bills for us. This would make it extremely easy to pass bills and voters dont usually pay attention, not when theres 5 or 6 referenda, but especially not when there will be 20 referenda each term, which I expect will be the result of this, since pretty much every rejected bill would probably get sent to the voters, along with everything that was hoppered but never clarked, cause it didnt get enough support. I think this would turn out to be a mess pretty quickly. RZ38 - AUS I'll submit my VoC later.
