Let's worry about the prospective new Commission if and when it gets going. I don't know what else we can do, really. We're making really good progress, amicably and carefully... I'm loathe to just abandon it and go work with a group that couldn't even take the time or courtesy to manage its own creation without discord! I was not saying to abandon it, not at all. I think we are doing great work. But it is very likely the commission will eventually be formed, and am wondering how to handle logistical issues.

Eh, I guess I agree. I just don't know what to do about it. Saying "wait let's come up with a good thing we can all get behind" didn't work before.

I suppose we should just continue on, and propose midterm plebiscites as necessary. I looked at Article X, I don't think there is anything there that needs to be cut.

Let's stick with IX for now. We can sock away each article as they come. We want these changes to last and keep everyone safe. Although I admit I have a list of notes about other articles, too Epic, do you see any way a villain could take advantage of our changes?

I had planned on Clarking my bill this month; I would be loathe to postponing it, since the SoS MAY remove a bill that's spent more than 59 days in the Hopper.
I don't see how these new laws might be exploited, however, what we are still missing is a lawful specification of how the SoS is appointed and dismissed.

I could just put the specifications back into the beginning of Section 1, like it is currently.

That makes sense to me.

I'd suggest putting 6.2 back into the OrgLaw. It's a very specific power given to the Seneschal to bypass the Ziu's legislative process, whatever that might be.

I'd love to contribute to this, but my workload at the moment is a little too heavy for me to effectively engage with it, sorry!

Are you afraid it could be abused if it wasn't in the OrgLaw? Pretty much. We don't want any statutes that limit this power of the Seneschal to directly require a vote on something, I think. I'd love to contribute to this, but my workload at the moment is a little too heavy for me to effectively engage with it, sorry! I understand! Glad to know that you'd work with us if you could -- and hopefully you'll find the time to at least look over our bills when we release them!

As you colleagues will have noticed, 48RZ18 passed, which means - barring a Royal veto, which these days can never be ruled out - the Royal Commission on the OrgLaw will be passed. It is my hope that at least one of the members of this Committee will be appointed to the Commission and will be able to present its proposals to the broader group.

It was my plan to just put bills directly in the Hopper, once everyone in the committee agreed they were in their best form. I would be happy to also send them to your group if it forms, but its limited numbers mean that the whole Ziu offers a much better opportunity for real feedback at that stage: committee -> Ziu, rather than committee -> commission -> Ziu. PP and Socialists both should get a chance, if we can. But it would definitely be great if the commission ended up endorsing our proposals... that would provide a very neat solution to the issue Ian was worried about, earlier. But I'd like to hear Epic and Ian on this, too.

I can't say I enthused about incorporating these ideas into the Commission. Yes, I did have some concerns earlier, but I think the best way to deal with them is to hold mid-term plebiscites as needed if the Commission and Committee will overlap. This is not the perfect solution, but I am still wary about tying in measures simply to streamline with measures which change substance. But I suppose we could let the Commission know what we are working on without needing to have a member of the Committee also be on the Commission. I suppose I am neutral on the issue, but I definitely don't see myself on the Commission.

I obviously don't have much interest in getting mowed down by a freight train, so me neither. But we could at least just send them our bills at the same time we put them on the Hopper floor, maybe?
