Azul! I was wondering if there's enough interest and dedication in the kingdom to actually get this thing started again. Although I enjoy the occasional IMs with members of the Language Committee, I think it would be better if we can get as many people communicating in talossan even by just a smidge Practice makes perfect after all!

Current full members are: Iustì Canun Cresti Siervicül King John Xhorxh Asmour Mic'haglh del Avercül Dréu Gavárþic'h Tric'hard Carschaleir Aspra Laira Ma la Mha Flip Molinar Txec dal Nordselva Miestrâ Schivâ Ián Tamorán Üc Tärfâ Óïn Ursüm Candidate members are: Ieremiac’h Ventrutx Ceváglh Scurznicol Tomás Gariçéir Magniloqueu Épiqeu da Lhiun Ian Anglatzara Marcel Tafial Roibeardet dal Riesta That's to the best of my knowledge. I might have missed someone. The list on the web site isn't 100% up-to-date. Most of these people aren't very active, unfortunately. Some of them haven't been heard from in years.

Now I know why progress with language learning materials have been slowed to a crawl

I am actually frustrated with the CÚG. I should not be required to have a Yahoo!-account in order to request a vote on my full membership.

Other members find it convenient to have a mailing list to receive CÚG business. Do you have any suggestions for an alternative to Yahoo Groups that might be unobjectionable for everyone? FreeLists looks like it could be a good alternative, but I'm not sure we fall within the scope of the topics they accept (they focus on technology-related lists).

Why, how about a mailing list on the individual e-mail-addresses, which any chosen Secretary can send to every member? One need not use the same platform for mailing lists. We do it at the polyglot gathering, and it works just fine. We also have a googlegroup thing, but that is very Greek to me. (I had no Ancient Greek in school, sadly...)

We do it at the polyglot gathering, and it works just fine. We also have a googlegroup thing, but that is very Greek to me. (I had no Ancient Greek in school, sadly...) That's how the CÚG list used to work. The two problems with that approach are: 1) Keeping track of who's supposed to be getting the e-mails and making sure they go to the right people. With an automated list server each member has the ability to make sure they're on the list and the right e-mail address is being used. In the past, we eventually had a problem with e-mails not making it to everyone. 2) Preserving an official record of discussions. An automated list server can preserve an automated archive of e-mails on the list. In the case of the Yahoo Group, those e-mails are publicly available to anyone who wants to review them. But even I have little idea of what discussions led to the 2010 and 2011 Arestadas (see #1).
