The Easy Conversions Act WHEREAS the whole world uses the Metric system for the exception of the USA, Liberia, and Myanmar, and
WHEREAS multiplying and dividing by 10 is very easy because we use a base-10 number system, and
WHEREAS the Imperial system is so convoluted that even math enthusiasts can't keep track of it all, and
WHEREAS it is easy to know that there are 100,000 centimeters in a kilometer, but not so easy to know that there 63,360 inches in a mile, and
WHEREAS NASA once lost $125 million because Lockheed Martin used Imperial units instead of the agreed-upon Metric units, and
WHEREAS we would not want the same thing happening to our own scientific pursuits, and
WHEREAS I realized that keeping the Fahrenheit scale is dumb if we convert everything else to metric, and
WHEREAS I first introduced this bill as a freshman MC, and
WHEREAS Now that I am Distain I like to think that I have more political capital
THEREFORE the twenty-ninth section of Title F of el Lexhatx, which currently reads:
The sole official system of weights and measures within the Kingdom of Talossa is the so-called "American" or English System.
Shall be replaced in full by the following:
The official system of weights and measures within the Kingdom of Talossa is the Metric System.

The third rail of Talossan politics. This would be the fifth change back and forth, I think?

I encourage everyone to watch the YouTube video "Are Imperial Measurements outdated?" by Head Squeeze.
I am keeping Fahrenheit because it has a larger range of values that describe temperatures experienced in everyday life

This would be the fifth change back and forth, I think? Most of those changes have occurred to make Talossa more distinguished from the rest of the world. We surely have our own identity now outside of what measurements we use, so we should be guided by common sense on these issues.
Common Sense=Metric System

I heartily endorse this bill. How many times did we endorse and disavow Gloria Estefan?

But who's going to pay to replace all the speed limit signs in Talossa?

I don't oppose the bill, necessarily, I just think it's funny how often we've flopped back and forth.

I hope this is the last switch, because I would never understand a switch back to Imperial.

For my part, I support the current system because it is the system actually in use in 7 out of 8 provinces by tens of thousands of Cestours.

I'm sure the Cestours would appreciate being taught a superior system of units.

I would endorse this bill, if it took Fahrenheit out of the system as well.
Also, what do we do, if Talossan were vigesimal in counting, like, say, Irish or Scottish Gaelic?

I would endorse this bill, if it took Fahrenheit out of the system as well. Lets say the range of temperatures experienced in normal life is between -10 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. That's 110 increments.
Now, the Celsius equivalent of that range is about -23 to 38 degrees, which is only 61 increments.
Because Fahrenheit increments are smaller than Celsius increments, you can give more accuracy more easily when describing temperatures in conversation. Celsius is far superior in science, though.
It's a good thing it's not
P.S. - Slight re-wording for added clarity

I would endorse this bill, if it took Fahrenheit out of the system as well. Furthermore, for people raised with Imperial Units, the Celsius scale is far harder to understand than the rest of the Metric system.
